Sarai's PLay

OK, I have just published several posts, so read down past this one to see all the latest happenings at the Brown home.

Sarai was in a play last week. She was awfully cute. The performed during school and then again at night. Well, Sarai started getting a headache but did not tell us so she would not miss the play. Half way through the play she was not performing too well, started holding her stomach and looked like she would up-chuck at any time. Ang alerted one of the teachers and the principal. The teacher went up on stage during the play with a garbage can to escort Sarai off and make sure she didn't yak all over the place. Poor Sarai got one of her not-so-rare migraines but since we did not catch this in time it was a bad one. She threw up after we got home and finally screamed herself to sleep after a while. Not a fun night for poor Sarai and Ang.

Annie

Yes, we did. We got ourselves a little puppy not quite 8 weeks old. Annie is an absolutely wonderful puppy - half black lab and half golden retriever. She is the total Yuppy Puppy. Due to my profession, she has a ton of toys, collars, leashes, treats, chew toys, etc. I think she is on toy overload. She came to live with us on Dec 27, 2008 and is getting big. She will be a big dog for sure - already has large paws. We have been taking her on many walks each day which has been good for all of us. Ang is taking her through a training class at Petsmart - that has been very helpful. Annie slept in our bed the first week or so but now either sleeps downstairs with Seth or in her kennel (usually with Seth). She truly is a great puppy and has already brought a lot of joy to our family. The kids absolutely love her.

Santa sent the kids a letter telling us that he can make all sorts of toys but not puppys and that we were to go get a puppy despite any reservations their parents might have. So, we obeyed Santa's wishes. Our two cats are less than thrilled. It has been fun.

Seth Scores on his Bday

Seth turned 12 this year and received the priesthood on his birthday - Jan 11. He is growing up fast. We had some friends over on this birthday to help celebrate. It has been really cool to watch him pass the sacrament at church. Am I getting old or what?

Gingerbread House

The kids had a blast making this gingerbread house. Most normal people would have made this before Christmas but didn't get around to it until after the first of the year. Oh well, at least we made it - better late than never.

Shem's Concert

Shem has been doing Choir in school. They had their big Christmas concert in December. In addition to singing with the whole choir, Shem also performed his instrumental abilities. He looked good and did awesome at the concert. Shem is a great kid!

Daddy Daughter Date

Just before Thanksgiving Sarai took me out on a Daddy Daughter date to her girl scout district dance at Grandview High School. I was shocked at how many people were there. I was expecting a small crowd, but the cafeteria was completely full. We had a great time until towards the very end. Sarai had asked the DJ to play her favorite song - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Well, after a while the DJ finally played the song but Sarai was off playing with other girls in the atrium. I was watching her play but then heard the song and made the mistake of getting Sarai. By the time she came to the dance floor the song was ending. That ruined everything for her. I felt sad for her but also completely frustrated and helpless. In her words, it was supposed to be the best day of her life and now it was the worst day of her life. Tears and more tears. The drama! All because she missed her song being played. I can just imagine what the teenage years are going to be like! Just shoot me now. :)
